  • Virginia: House Continues Gun Control Push Giving Public Minimal Notice Before Vote
    Today, the Virginia House of Delegates added half a dozen gun control bills to the floor agenda for votes and promptly passed the bills giving little notice to the public.
  • New Mexico: Senate Committee to Passes Sweeping Gun Control Bill
    Last night, the New Mexico Senate Judiciary Committee passed an omnibus gun control package that would severely undermine the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding New Mexicans and threaten the viability of local firearm retailers. We are monitoring this situation and will be sending updates as SB17 goes through the legislative process. Please use the Take Action link below to contact your elected officials and express your strong opposition to SB 17.  
  • Florida: Pro-Industry Legislation Advances from Subcommittee
    On Tuesday, House Bill 1551 was reported favorably out of the Florida House Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee by a vote of 13–4, and now moves to the House Judiciary Committee for further consideration. The Senate companion bill, Senate Bill 1748, is expected to take up action soon.      
  • Virginia: Anti-Gun Legislation Continues to Advance in Both Chambers
    Yesterday, the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations, passed Senate Bill 763, which imposes an 11% excise tax on the sale of all firearms and ammunition "by a dealer in firearms, firearms manufacturer, or ammunition vendor," and designates all funding from the tax go into a so-called "Virginia Gun Violence Intervention and Prevention Fund."
  • Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act introduced in Congress.
    Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ-12) and Kweisi Mfume (D-MD-07) reintroduced the Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act. This legislation effectively bans the online sale of ammunition, implements a new licensing requirement for the sale of ammunition, and requires “bulk” purchases to be reported to law enforcement.
