NDSSA Junior Match Support Policy

One of the major objectives of the North Dakota Shooting Sports Association is to promote and foster junior shooting programs and junior shooters across the state.  Many of our junior shooters excel and reach the next level to compete nationally in their discipline.  This policy outlines NDSSA financial support of North Dakota resident juniors attending National Championship Matches.

Eligibility

  • Athletes are considered juniors until Dec. 31st of the year they turn 20 years old.

  • Juniors must be residents of North Dakota as defined in the NDSSA constitution.

Use of Funding

  • These funds are to be used for match entry fees and travel expenses.

Level of Funding

  • Juniors are eligible to receive funding to one event per year.

  • On an annual basis the NDSSA board will determine of the total amount of funding available and individual limit for the upcoming year.  A recommendation put forth and approved by vote at the NDSSA Annual Membership meeting.

 Funded Championships 

Junior attendance at the following National Championship Matches.

 The matches below are eligible for funding by NDSSA

  • USA Shooting National Junior Olympic Rifle and Pistol Championships.  (Invitation only match)

  • USA Shooting Rifle and Pistol National Championships.

  • NRA National (Pistol, High Power Rifle, Smallbore Rifle) Championships.

  • CMP National (Pistol, High Power Rifle, Smallbore Rifle) Championships.

 The NDSSA reserves the right to review, on an individual basis, funding requests for other matches.

 Funding  Distribution

  • Juniors, or their parents must submit a completed Junior Support Application (found on the NDSSA website) if they receive an invitation to, or intend to attend, one of the funded National Championships, listed above.

  • The Application must be submitted before the start of record fire for the event for which the application is being made. Applications submitted after record firing begins will not be accepted.

  • Upon approval, the NDSSA treasurer will send payment to the parent of the qualifying junior in a timely manner.

  • Funding will be returned to NDSSA if the event is cancelled, or the individual chooses to not attend after requesting funding.

  • “Funding is Limited.” Early application is highly recommended.

For 2025, funding by NDSSA was set at $400 per junior per event.  Also for 2025, NDSSA will support juniors to attend 2 events, PROVIDED, there is available funding.  The support for the 2nd event will be $200.  Maximum funds available is $6,000.

  • President Trump Signs Appropriations Package that Includes Protections for Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights into Law
    Today, President Donald Trump signed into law a legislative proposal to reopen the federal government. Included in the legislation is a provision that prohibits the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) from stripping the constitutional right of veterans to possess a firearm simply because they have been appointed a fiduciary to manage their benefits.
  • Congress Passes Appropriations Package that Includes Protections for Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights
    On November 10th, 2025, the U.S. Senate passed on a legislative proposal to reopen the federal government. Included in this package was the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies bill. This legislation maintained a provision that prohibits the Department of Veterans Affairs from stripping the constitutional right of veterans to possess a firearm without due process simply because they have been appointed a fiduciary to manage their benefits.
  • Gun owners should approach firearm product liability suits with discernment
    Few communities take the products they use as seriously as gun owners. A firearm is often a tool that a person needs to be able to trust their life with. Add brand loyalty and differences of opinion on design, ergonomics, function, calibers, and aesthetics and there are the makings for passionate debate.  
  • Veteran’s Sad Lament Shows Why Surrender is Not an Option
    Gun owners in Virgina, home of NRA’s Headquarters, are still absorbing the results of last Tuesday’s elections. In addition to the election of Democrat Abigail Spanberger, a former Mom’s Demand Action volunteer, as governor, we now have an attorney general who thinks the shooting of a political rival and the death of his “little fascist” children might finally prompt the gun control he supports.  All major branches of Virginia government are now controlled by anti-gun extremists who received huge amounts of financial support from the country’s largest firearm prohibition lobbies. And yet, as NRA faces the fight of its life where many of us live and work, the message of a 100-year-old veteran of the British army urges us on in our task. His sad lament reminds us that too many have paid too great a price for freedom for surrender to be an option. We must carry on the struggle, come what may.  
  • The Latest Lurch in Canada’s Gun Grab: Test Run Nets “Less than 30” Guns
    In a tacit acknowledgement of just how unworkable its gun ban and confiscation program is, Canada’s Liberal government quietly extended the gun amnesty for an additional year, just before it was due to expire on October 30 – the third time (so far) that the date has been pushed forward.   
  • Pennsylvania: Firearm Registration Bill Scheduled for Committee This Week!
    On Wednesday, November 12, the House Judiciary Committee will take action on HB 1891, a gun registration bill that the NRA opposed last year and continues to fight this session. While supporters claim the bill is a “modernization” measure, HB 1891 would mandate electronic submission of all firearm-related paperwork, strengthening state firearm registries and databases and placing costly new burdens on small federally licensed dealers. Please contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to OPPOSE HB 1891.  
  • Firearm Access During Shutdown Act introduced in Congress
    On October 30th, 2025, Senator Jim Risch [R-ID] introduced the Firearm Access During Shutdown Act (S.3085), with Congressman Ben Cline [R-VA-6] introducing the companion legislation in the U.S. House (H.R. 5874).
  • Michigan: Support Legislation to Expand and Restore Second Amendment Rights
    On Wednesday, the Michigan House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on four critical pro-gun bills designed to: lower the age to carry a concealed pistol to 18 years and old, allow eligible individuals to petition the courts to remove unnecessary disabilities on their firearm rights, extend the CPL application period to account for administrative errors, and enable residents to apply for a concealed pistol license in any county across the state. Please click the “Take Action” button below to contact committee members and urge them to SUPPORT these measures that enhance self-defense rights and ensure fair access to the concealed carry process.  
  • Virginia: Election Results Threaten Your Second Amendment Rights
    The recent election has brought significant changes to the electorate, and the results couldn’t be clearer. An anti-gun majority now controls the House of Delegates, and an anti-gun Governor is preparing to take office. Together, they are already signaling aggressive plans to roll back your Second Amendment freedoms.  
  • Nebraska: Governor Signs Proclamation Recognizing Wild Game Meat Donation Month
    On Tuesday, November 4th, Governor Jim Pillen signed a proclamation designating November of 2025 as Wild Game Meat Donation Month in Nebraska.
